Read ThisYou may have heard of the concept of there being different types of osrs accounts within Old School RuneScape. If you currently only have one account, that may seem like an alien concept, as you’ve made tons of progress on that one account, known as your ‘main’. However, there are actually various different types of accounts and account builds that exist within the game.
Main Accounts
A main account is your original account, an account that will typically aim to complete all quests, get 99 in all skills, complete the Collection Log and Achievement Diaries and do everything that there is to be done within the game.
Skilling accounts
Skilling accounts are accounts that primarily only do skilling-related activities.
There are two subtypes of skilling accounts. The first is a skilling pure: this account only trains skills like Herblore, Woodcutting, and intentionally avoids all Combat skills. This is done as a challenge, as many skilling methods, potentially more efficient methods require access to certain areas with high-level enemies or have prerequisites of quests with dangerous combat bosses just to access those areas. As such, a player with a pure skilling account has to think outside the box to efficiently attain level 99.
The second is a money-making skilling account. This account doesn’t deliberately avoid training combat but wants to minimize it, to focus on generating the most gold per hour. A player may typically play this account in the background doing activities like Blast Furnace to help finance their main account with OSRS gold.
PvP Accounts
PvP accounts come in various builds. Having 99 Strength, 99 Attack, 99 Defence, 99 Prayer, 99 Magic, 99 Ranged, doesn’t mean the account is for optimal PvP contrary to popular belief. The reason being is that the wilderness operates with level scopes, so Wilderness level 20 means you can only attack players within 20 combat levels of you. You won’t be able to target a typical player doing Lava Dragons if you’d like to fight them for loot, as they’ll be much lower level.
Therefore, various account builds and configurations of accounts with varying combat stats exist. One such variant is a ‘Defence’ pure, where the idea is you may have 99 Attack, 99 Strength, 99 Melee, but level 1 Defence. This puts you in an artificially lower combat level, and with careful Prayer usage, you can defeat most players with standard combat stats such as 70 Attack/Defence/Strength.
Although various types of PvP accounts exist with different combat stat layouts, not just Defence pures, which aren’t necessarily the most perfect or optimal build. The best type for you can be found through experimenting.
