Read ThisIt's been a bit odd for me to witness the disdain for the massive commercialization in Diablo Immortal. I'm not a fan however, if we look at the player's behavior within TBC classic, you will discern the reason Blizzard wants to offer players what they need and make money from the game's success.
As I've observed during TBC Classic, players don't focus on the journey or the community, nor the economy, they just care about being part of the end-game and not just the ending-game, but also the most recent end-game. In order to achieve this they're willing to pay for a lot of gold (and let's face it the real currency) to achieve that.
When Blizzard launches an online game that lets you to easily skip to the final game stage making genuine money actual distinction is that Blizzard is the one making the money instead of Indonesian, Egyptian, Venezuelan [insert country in which the wages for gold farming compete with local markjet wage ratescompanies.
Players will prefer to skip the content they find boring or irrelevant content (leveling, dungeons and heroics, as well as earlier raids).
Players continue to pay money to play at a higher level, buy gear, or be better in some erroneous competition and there are very few winners.
There is hardly any distinction. Why is the fuss? The players are clearly happy and are looking forward to that type of game and the stream through RMT gold and the demise of the mid-game in the early part says that.
What's the point of complaining when you receive exactly what you want? The pricing system used in Diablo Immortal ensures that there is always another price you can attain, simply by pulling into your pocket.
You're clearly prepared to do this, so I salute you. Blizzard is taking some of the money from businesses who violated the TOS they signed to.
