Read ThisOuter space can be lonely, but Star Wars Squadrons co-operative modes don't require you to explore outer space alone. You can take on up to four friends in Star Wars Squadron's co-op multiplayer modes and form your own mini-team as you fight among the stars. Remember; in space, no one can hear you scream until you turn on voice chat.
It doesn't matter if you are a veteran of the war between the stars or just starting to fly, let us guide you through the different multiplayer modes you can play in Star Wars Squadrons co-op.
Star Wars Squadrons multiplayer Co-Op modes
If you decide to enter the Star Wars Squadrons multiplayer modes, you'll first need to decide which mode you will immerse yourself in. There are two main options in Star Wars Squadrons: Dogfight and Fleet Battles.
Air combat
In this squad mode, up to ten pilots compete against each other in a life-and-death fight. If you've played deathmatch in other games, you'll be home to how it works. You can join forces with up to five friends on a team and play in co-op or be connected with other players online.
Fleet battles
Fleet Battles is the flagship mode for Star Wars Squadrons and the main focus of the multiplayer co-op modes. In Fleet Battles, you and up to four other players, either in the group you have created or through matchmaking, compete against another team of five pilots (real players or AI) to destroy the other team's flagships.
When fighting in the fleet battles mode, you will first engage in air combat before taking on the main ships, and then end it with an attack on the enemy flagship. Remember that when trying to destroy your opponent's flagship, you must also defend your own flagship.
Create a Co-Op Party in Star Wars Squadrons
The key to creating a co-op team in Star Wars Squadrons is using the in-game social menu. Here you can invite up to four other friends to join your squad before jumping into air fights or fleet battles.
Once you've assembled your party, you can start right away. Choosing a game mode from the multiplayer menu will keep your squad intact when you start Star War.
In Star Wars Squadrons, you can also invite friends to join the game after the game starts, or enter if there is room for you when you see the game in progress. Pick a friend from the social menu and invite them to your game, or hit Join Game to delve into their game and if there's room and if they accept the invite you'll be flying side by side in no time.
Star Wars Squadrons not only play with friends online on the same system, but also offer cross-play on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. To do this you'll need to add each other to your EA Friends, which may require EA IDs from you, but once you've got them on your list, follow the same rules as above to invite them to join, play.
