Genshin's Influence: How to Solve the Mystery of Starglow Cavern

Dec-31-2020 PST Category: News

In Genshin Impact, the little puzzle is at the top of the Starglow Cavern, south of Skyfrost Nail and west of the Dragonspine Stone Tablet location. Faced with the promise of loot and the threat of a boss fight, some players are curious how to complete the puzzle.

When players reach the top of Starglow Cavern, they should discover a ring of glowing runes that surrounds one of the newer enemies in Genshin Impact, Ruin Grader. While the Mechanical Giant will be inactive when discovered, this puzzle involves initiating a Ruin Grader that will serve the player as a mini boss fight.

Much like solving the Dragonspine pressure plate puzzle, this one may not be too complicated, but it can still be easier to solve if players know what to expect. To complete the puzzle, players must activate the four brick mechanisms scattered around the area. The first is directly outside the ring of runes, and the second is on the other side of the ring, at the edge of the cliff. Both mechanisms can be started without any required action.

Behind the Ruin Grader is a small ledge sticking out from the side of the mountain. Players have to climb onto this ledge and look for another mechanism in the grass. Players will need to use the Pyro's attack to defrost the ice surrounding the mechanism before it can be triggered.

After activating the third mechanism, players must move to the other end of the shelf. There, on the same level as the runes and the ruin grader, and among the rocks that rest on the corner edge of the cliff, is the small Scarlet Quartz deposit. Players who have already collected Crystal Agate in the cell north of here will know how to destroy this deposit and collect the quartz so that a red aura surrounds their character.

With the red aura active, players can attack and destroy the strange Genshin Impact magic ice along the side of the rock ledge. However, there are two mounds of magic ice - one holds the final mechanism and the other contains a loot chest - so players may need to return to the Scarlet Quartz Store to retrieve the Red Aura. After the actual Magic Ice Hill is destroyed, players can activate the final mechanism.

When all four mechanics are triggered, the Precious Chest will appear next to the Ruin Grader - but going to AFK at this point would be dangerous as the beast will now become active and hostile. Players must fight the Mini Boss, and when it is destroyed, three more valuable chests will appear as a reward.

When working on this puzzle, players should remember to keep an eye on their Pure Cold gauge. To help cope with the progressive cold, many torches were scattered around the area. Additionally, it may be advisable for players to fully lower the ruler before activating the last mechanism and starting combat.

Some players have reported a bug in this puzzle that causes the Ruin Grader to awaken when the third mechanism is triggered; once the battle is over, the fourth mechanism becomes useless and no crates will appear. At the time of writing this article, there does not appear to be a fix, and although the version 1.3 Inazuma weapon is leaked, there is still no information on what bug fixes the update might contain.
